Here’s the brutal truth about finding or creating a high-performing Sorcerer character build:
There are WAY too many ESO players posting suboptimal builds on forums that they haven’t extensively tested and optimized.
The ESO Mage Mundus Stone Location Maps and Guides. The Mage Mundus Stone is the boon that increases your character’s maximum magicka! The 3 factions each have a full set of Mundus Stones scattered throughout the regions and you are also able to find twelve in Cyrodiil for those players who are more dedicated towards winning the war for the Ruby Throne.

- Gear and Item Set Info. General Info. Champion Point Tips. Build Rating.
- Also your mag recovery is kinda high. I don't know if its poss to get the level of spell' dmg you want. (as a staff magg sorc atleast) and have a mag recovery over 1000 (w/o potions or pumping champion points into into mag recovery) Even then 1300 mag recovery unbuffed seems a longshot.
They think their build is good just because they picked some good stats and items that they hear are good.
If only it were that easy…
If you’re serious about maximizing your characters full potential, you will need to spend hours testing and tweaking your build until you prefect it.
Well today I’m going to give you a few short cuts that will allow you to greatly improve the effectiveness of your build by showing you the important things we have learned by doing hundreds of hours of testing for our ESO character builds guide. (More info & link at the end of this post)
I. Best Race Choices for a Sorcerer
Race Choices For Stamina Builds:
The best choice at the moment is Redguard for PvE DPS. Since the Khajiit critical passive was fixed they have become a top contender for maximum DPS now. If you want a more well-rounded race so you can switch between multiple roles you can pick Imperial.
Race Choices For Magicka Builds:
- Magicka DPS & PvP: High Elf for the 4% increased dmg to elemental spells, also has higher magicka pool and magicka regen. You can still hit really good numbers if you pick Breton or Dark Elf (Dunmer) but High Elf will be your best option.
- Healer: Breton, the reduced spell cost and high magicka pool is essential for efficient healing. Second best choice will be High Elf.
II. Prioritize The Right Stats/Attribute Points
Stats For Stamina DPS Builds: To do end game content you will want around 18k HP so you don’t get one shot. After you make sure you have 18k HP you should dump all your extra stats from attribute points and enchants into stamina. If you are still leveling up just make sure you keep putting some points into health, if you start getting one or two shot that means you are putting to many points into stamina.
You should prioritize your stats in this order for optimal Stamina DPS Builds:
- Armor Penetration
- Weapon Damage
- Weapon Critical
- Max Stamina
- Reduced Stamina Cost
- Stamina Recovery
Stats For Magicka Builds: You will also want about 18k HP for magicka builds if you are planning to do end game content and if you are still leveling just make sure you are putting enough points into health so you don’t get one or two shot by packs of mobs.
You should prioritize your stats in this order for optimal Magicka DPS Builds:
- Spell Damage
- Spell Critical
- Spell Penetration
- Max Magicka
- Reduced Magicka Cost
- Magicka Recovery
You should prioritize your stats in this order for optimal Healing Builds:
- Max Magicka
- Reduced Magicka Cost
- Magicka Recovery
- Spell Damage
- Spell Critical

III. Pick The Right Mundus Stone
Stamina Based Mundus Stones: Most characters should run the Thief mundus stone for maximum DPS but Khajiit Sorcerers with a high critical strike chance should run Shadow.
Magicka Based Mundus Stones: The Thief is defiantly the way to go for magicka DPS builds, the Thief increases your critical chance which allows you to use your ultimate “Overload” more often. For healing builds you should swap mundus stones to the Atronach, the ability to consistently heal is way more important than your damage output.
If you want to know where to find each Mundus Stone is checkout our: Mundus Stones Location Guide

Builds are player created attribute and gear choices in Elder Scrolls Online. They usually focus on a specific attribute, such as Magicka or Stamina, and provide guidelines of equipment, champion points and skills that are necessary to succeed in combat. Players can reset their spent attribute and skillpoints at rededication shrines in the major cities of each faction, providing a way out of uncomfortable choices.
'Best in Slot' gear set recommendations are very subjective, and change based on the type of event you will be facing (dungeon, trial, etc.). They will also change as ESO development teams change gear atrributes. Based on the December 2016 patch, here are some PvE gear suggestions for the different classes.
- Tank - Ebon, Alkosh, Blood Spawn, Hist Bark, Footman, Tava's Favor, Lord Warden
- Healer - Spell Power Cure, Worm's Raiment,Infallable Mage, Twilight Remedy
- Mag Sorc - Llambris, Burning Spellweave, Infallable Mage, Moondancer, Twice Born Star
- Mag Templar - Grothdarr, Burning Spellweave, Mother's Sorrow, Infallable Mage, Moondancer, Twice Born Star

Blood Mage (Healer) by Kyubi | Race: Breton is recommanded Attributes: This build defies the notion that Templars are the best healers, and focuses on syphoning with some assasination. Equipment: Restoration Staff, full set of light armor (can be done with a hybrid in medium but light will definitively make your life more confortable magicka Wise) Crafting: Since by default you will be using clothes and staves i heavily recommand perfecting your woodworking and your tailoring skills. | PvE | April 2014 |
A fun build that relies on high damage and quick return of health and other resources. To overwhelm and survive you opponents. | PvE | Jan 2015 | |
Tarrou_'s Nightblade | I play a 2h/bow stamina Nightblade that I really enjoy. What I lack in control I make up for in burst, and it makes for a really fun experience as a roaming/solo PvP build, but also for solo PvE. It doesn't bring too much to the table for dungeons, but a few tweaks can fix that. It is more focused on mid to higher levels, but there's no reason you can't incorporate elements of the build starting at level 1. | Solo PvP & PvE | May 2015 |
Shang Tsung Mageblade PvE by alloutofbblgum | Magic Nightblade for all PvE, Dungeons, DSA, Trials. Can easily be adapted to PvP with some skill swaps. | PvE | Dec 2015 |

Timedawn's DPS Templar | Race: Wood Elf Attributes: 1 magicka, 2 health, 3 stamina Equipment: 7 medium with health or stamina (you can add some magicka in there as well if you want to be able to spam blazing shield more though health is most likely better since it means the shield will be able to absorb more). | Solo, Small Groups and Duo content | Feb 2016 |
Resto Warrior | A build that will keep you and your allies fighting on in the thick of any battle. | PvE, PvP | May 2015 |
Warden

Eso Mag Sorc Dmg Numbers 2017
Build Name | Quick Overview | Focus |

Assassin by Morthadis | Race: N/A Attributes: There are several ways to distribute these points. You will find out that most of the time, you will have a shortage of magicka/stamina in fights. Still, placing a lot of attribute points in magicka/stamina won't change it that much. The best way to spent your points in my opinion is 1(magicka)/4(health)/1(stamina). Health is much more usefull in a battle than the little extra magicka or stamina. Instead, you should get more of this by enchanting your armor, this gives a much greater buff and you will notice the difference, unlike with attribute point Equipment: See link for ranged and melee choices Crafting: N/A | PvP PvE |
Balanced PvP by fearzffs | Race: Orc Attributes: I have a nice balance between stamina and magica consumation. Also I have some great utility in my bow skills such as see invisible enemies and mark a target. It is still a close and personal build. You'd like to focus 49 points in health and from items it would be nice to cap at stamina and then put some items for magica aswell Equipment: ?? Crafting: N/A | PvP |
